40th reunion celebration for Juneau-Douglas H.S. Class of 1967

JUNEAU - The Juneau-Douglas High School class of 1967 will hold its 40th reunion Aug. 17-19.
Planned events include a party at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at the Juneau Yacht Club ($5 donation at the door); a dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Thane Ore House ($25 at the door); and potluck picnic from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Sandy Beach log cabin.

End of Eagles vs. Ravens celebrated in Haines and Klukwan
HAINES - The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium's Eagles vs. Ravens walking contests ended Aug. 5, and potluck lunch gatherings are scheduled in Klukwan and Haines to celebrate the end of the three-month-long events.
The 2007 Eagles vs. Ravens walking contests opened on May 5, with the Chilkat River Walk from Klukwan to Haines. Competitors in Klukwan and Haines have been logging their miles for the past three months in a friendly competition between moieties, small teams and individuals.
The Klukwan celebration takes place at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Veteran's Memorial. All Klukwan-based competitors need to have their final miles submitted to Community Health Aide Michael Adams at the SEARHC Klukwan Clinic by Monday, Aug. 6. Prizes will be given to the walkers who have walked the farthest.
The Haines celebration takes place at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Tlingt Park Gazebo. All Haines-based competitors need to have their final points submitted to Community Wellness Advocate Mandy Ramsey at the SEARHC Haines Health Center by Monday, Aug. 6. Prizes will be awarded to the walkers with the most points.
