Youth choir holds auditions

Boys and girls aged 8 to 16 are invited to audition for the Alaska Youth Choir on Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Northern Light Church. Call 364-2403 to schedule an appointment; a parent must accompany a child.

A concert choir is offered for advanced voices, and a resident training choir is available for new singers. Call music director Missouri Smyth at 780-5225.

Identical twins sought for play

Perseverance Theatre is looking for pairs of identical twins of all ages to perform in a play this fall. Call Artistic Director Peter DuBois at 364-2421, ext. 28, to arrange an audition time.

Perseverance's fall season begins with "Proof," and currently includes "A Winter's Tale," "King Island Christmas," "On the Razzle," "The Wooden Breeks" and a new Alaska play. The lineup is subject to change.

Alaska museums receive grants

Two Juneau museums are among the 16 Alaska programs to receive funds through the Grant-in-Aid program administered by the Alaska State Museum.

The Juneau-Douglas City Museum will receive $8,070 for photo documentation and collection inventory. The Gastineau Channel Historical Society has been given $2,934 for computer equipment to enhance operations and collection management.

The total grant money given out by the program is $105,600. The awards are funded by an appropriation by the Alaska Legislature.
