The grand jury indicted Cresucio "Chris" Balarmino Bagoyo III and Michael Thomas Blevins on charges of first-degree arson, second-degree burglary and second-degree theft.

The fire destroyed 281 storage units. Bagoyo and Blevins broke into several units, then set fire to the building, Juneau Police Investigator Kris Sell said in a press release.

Bagoyo and Blevins also were charged in a June 2 burglary of the Gastineau Human Services Administration office. The two men are accused of taking $49,000 in checks and about $4,000 in cash, along with various credit cards.

Bagoyo and Blevins are incarcerated at Lemon Creek Correctional Center, police said.

Police said last month that investigators had begun to take another look at the cause of the fire based on tips from "credible sources." Fire Marshal Randy Waters had said in June there was "about one-billionth of a chance" officials would be able to determine the cause and origin of the fire because of the extensive damage caused by the blaze.

The blaze happened in the early morning hours of June 3 and quickly spread throughout the storage building. Officials initially believed the fire may have started in two areas of the building and that all of the fire doors had been propped open, allowing the fire to move through the building.

More than 50 firefighters battled the blaze - narrowly escaping injury when the roof of the structure caved in.
