Elgee Rehfeld Mertz, Juneau accounting firm, has announced several prestigious employee promotions.
Bridget Lujan, far right, a certified public accountant, has been promoted to Director in the Tax Division of the firm. She began her career with ERM 14 years ago after obtaining her bachelor's degree from Niagara University in New York. Lujan has a strong commitment to the Juneau community and serves on the board of directors for the Juneau Rotary Club.
Julie Olson, right, has been newly appointed director in the firm's Audit Division. She is a certified public accountant and a certified fraud examiner. She graduated from the University of Alaska Southeast and has been with Elgee Rehfeld Mertz for 11 years. Olson currently serves as president of the Alaska Society of CPAs and is active in the Juneau-Gastineau Rotary Club.
Sarah Huebschen, certified public accountant, has been promoted to audit manager. She joined the firm in 2003 after graduating from the University of Alaska Southeast with a degree in Business Administration, Accounting.
Helen Hesson was promoted to senior auditor. She is a University of Alaska Southeast graduate and has passed the CPA exam. Currently she is working to fulfill Alaska licensing requirements. Hesson has been with the firm since 2005.
Amber Jean Michel, whose Tlingit name is Ska.toot and is of the Kiks.adi Clan, earned a Bachelor of Science, with a Third Mate Oceans Unlimited - U.S. Coast Guard License, from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in June. She graduated cum laude from the MMA Marine Transportation program. Graduating with a class of 200 other students, Michel was presented with the Massachusetts Port Authority Award for "demonstrated excellence in academic performance, character and leadership." She is the daughter of Andrea Ebona Michel, of Juneau, and Kurt Michel, of North Carolina. Michel accepted a position with Trans Ocean, based in Houston, and is currently going through company training before her assignment.
