Parents who haven't registered their children in kindergarten in the Juneau public schools may do so Friday, Aug. 15.
Registration will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. at the elementary schools. To enter kindergarten, a child must be age 5 by Aug. 15. Parents should bring a record of immunization shots and the child's birth certificate to the school the child will be entering.
Registration for the RALLY before- and after-school child care program for elementary school children also will be held Friday at all RALLY locations from 1 to 6 p.m. There is no registration fee for those who register this week. After Aug. 15, a fee of $10 per child, not to exceed $20 per family, will be charged to register.
Returning elementary and middle school students already should be registered. New students should register from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at their school. Parents should bring immunization records and the child's birth certificate.
All Juneau-Douglas High School students must register in the school commons at the time and date designated by the student's last name.
Registration for returning students is as follows:
H-K: 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20.
L-N: 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20.
A-D: 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
E-G: 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
O-S: 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22.
T-Z: 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22.
Registration for JDHS students new to Juneau is 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, or 8 a.m to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19.
Freshman orientation is 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18.
Immunizations must be current to attend school. The Juneau Public Health Center is holding a shot clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Valley Medical Clinic.
The first day of school for grades one through 12 is Wednesday, Aug. 27. Kindergarten start dates may vary by school, but most will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
