Act now for change

Letter to the editor

Posted: Wednesday, August 11, 2004

My father was a World War II Purple Heart veteran who spent four years in combat in the South Pacific. Our family is appalled that his sacrifice has been dishonored by the Bush administration.

The democratic institutions for which my father fought are being dismantled, and our international credibility is being destroyed. I am very frightened for the future of my children and my country if Bush is re-elected. We need to act for change now - not only through our votes, but also through our voices, our prayers and our actions. If we don't, the suffering of our soldiers and veterans and their families has been pointless.
