City Museum offers journal, scrapbook class

Children can learn to make their own journal or scrapbook from 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum at Fourth and Main streets. The class, taught by instructor Anne Castle, is open to ages 8 and older. Class size is limited, preregistration and prepayment required. For more information, contact the City Museum at 586-3572.

Adult hockey signup opens in August

During the month of August, the Juneau Adult Hockey Association will open registration for its autumn 2004 adult co-ed and women's hockey leagues. The first season will start Sept. 20-Dec. 15 at the Treadwell Arena. Registration forms must be returned before Sept. 1. Registration packages are available at the Treadwell Arena in Douglas, CBJ Parks and Recreation on Seward Street and at the Skater's Edge in the Valley.

JAHA will also host a special registration open house on Thursday, Aug. 12 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Egan Room of Centennial Hall. This an opportunity to learn about the league and register.

JAHA offers four tiers of hockey based on experience including a beginners and women's league. All tiers are recreational non-contact and open to players 18 years or older.

Registration closes Sept. 1. The Juneau Adult Hockey Association is a nonprofit group dedicated to organizing recreation hockey for Juneau's adults at the Treadwell Arena.
