JUNEAU - Gov. Sean Parnell has appointed a domestic violence prosecutor to be a district court judge in Anchorage.
Parnell announced the appointment of Pamela Washington on Monday.
Parnell cited Washington's work as a prosecutor for the municipality of Anchorage, as well as what he called her commitment to personal responsibility and community service, in making the pick. Parnell has said fighting domestic violence and sexual abuse is a priority of his administration.
According to Parnell's office, Washington's resume includes work with the Anchorage Youth Court, Crisis Pregnancy Center and NAACP and acting as adjunct faculty at University of Alaska Anchorage.
