Anchorage police ID body found in woods

Posted: Wednesday, August 12, 2009

ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police have identified the body found in a wooded area.

Spokesman Dave Parker said there were no signs of foul play when 69-year-old Eugene Wilson was discovered in a sleeping bag near the intersection of Bragaw Street and DeBarr Road.

Parker said final autopsy results won't be available for a few weeks.

The discovery of Wilson's body on Sunday brings the number of outdoor deaths in the city to nine since May.

Police said those who died earlier were either homeless or familiar with life on the street.

Alcohol has been a factor in most of the earlier deaths.
