ANCHORAGE - A teenager was shot in the buttock in what Alaska State Troopers say was an accidental shooting on Kodiak Island.

Troopers say the 16-year-old girl arrived at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center on Sunday evening with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers say the girl had been shot at a cabin in Chiniak several hours before. It appears that someone had been handling a weapon when it discharged and struck her.

The girl was treated and released from the hospital the same day.
