Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:
Driving while intoxicated:
Araina Marsden, 22, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. today near Marine Way for drunken driving. She also was charged with sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. She was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
A multimedia projector was reported stolen at 1:31 p.m. Monday from University of Alaska Southeast. The projector was stolen Thursday or Friday from a classroom. The projector is valued at $6,763.
Vandalism and criminal mischief:
A mail box was reported damaged at 8:55 a.m. Monday near North Douglas Highway. Damage was estimated at $50.
A telephone box was reported damaged at 9:37 a.m. Monday at the Pipeline Skateboard Park near Mendenhall Loop Road. The locks on the box were broken. Damage is estimated at $100.
Bears were reported Monday at 7:05 a.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek, 8:17 a.m. near North Douglas Highway, 11:23 a.m. near Calhoun Avenue, 3:42 p.m. near Glendale Street, 6:37 p.m. near Third Street and Calhoun Avenue, 7:14 p.m. near Fritz Cove Road, 7:21 p.m. near Dixon Street, and 8:53 p.m. near South Franklin Street.
Bears were reported today at 12:28 a.m. near Taku Boulevard and Mendenhall Loop Road, 12:31 a.m. near South Franklin Street, 1:40 a.m. near South Franklin Street, 5:35 a.m. near South Franklin Street, and 6:05 a.m. near Thunder Mountain Road.
The Department of Transportation had to remove a tree that fell across the road and onto a 1988 Honda around 6 a.m. today on Fritz Cove Road. The Honda was totaled, no one was hurt and no vehicles were believed to be on the road at the time the tree fell. Police said rain, wind and some small mudslides in the area could have contributed to the tree going over.
DOT arrived on scene and cut the tree, which was 20 inches at the base, into sections and hauled it to the side of the road.
