Drunken driving:
Police arrested 41-year-old Kevin Richard, of Wasilla, on a charge of drunken driving at 6:38 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Glacier Avenue downtown. They lodged him at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and impounded the vehicle he was driving.
Domestic violence:
Police arrested a 16-year-old girl on a charge of domestic-violence assault at 1:38 p.m. Friday in the Mendenhall Valley. They lodged her at the Johnson Youth Center.
Police arrested a 30-year-old man on a charge of domestic-violence assault at 2:44 p.m. in the valley. They lodged him at the state prison.
Assault:
Police arrested an 18-year-old woman on assault charges at 9:44 a.m. Saturday in the 8400 block of Rainbow Row in the valley. They lodged her at the state prison.
Theft:
A purse containing a wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle at 5:45 p.m. Thursday near Perseverance Trail downtown.
A cell phone was reported stolen at 12:57 p.m. Friday from a 1999 Volkswagen in the 600 block of Willoughby Avenue downtown.
Vandalism:
A 1996 Ford Explorer was reported vandalized at 7:24 p.m. Thursday in the 4000 block of Delta Drive in the valley.
Vehicle accident:
Police cited a 17-year-old girl on a charge of following too closely in traffic after an accident at 10:37 p.m. on Glacier Highway in the Lemon Creek area. The girl was driving a 1998 Honda Accord that sustained an estimated $1,000 in damage. Damage to a 2003 Subaru Forester was estimated at $2,000.
Traffic stops:
Police impounded a vehicle at 12:49 a.m. Friday after citing the driver, an 18-year-old woman, on a charge of driving without a license in the 1800 block of Glacier Avenue.
Police impounded a vehicle at 4:55 a.m. Friday after citing the driver, a 23-year-old man, on a charge of driving without a license near Egan Drive and Glacier Highway in the Jordan Creek area.
Underage drinking:
Police cited an 18-year-old woman on a charge of underage drinking at 1:12 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Douglas Highway.
Animal encounters:
A bear was reported getting into litter at 2:47 a.m. Friday near Fifth and Gold Streets downtown. At 10:22 p.m. Friday, a bear was seen running from the area of Third and Seward Streets downtown after children threw traffic cones at it. Also Friday a bear was sighted at 4:25 p.m. in the 5800 block of North Douglas Highway.
