Bursell, Sheufelt hanging tight in Tour of Anchorage

Sound off on the important issues at

Two Juneau cyclists sit in sixth place following two stages of the five-stage Tour of Anchorage bicycle race.

Janice Sheufelt currently sits in sixth place in the women's expert division. She took second place in the first stage and finished with the lead pack in the second stage.

John Bursell is tied for sixth in the men's expert division after finishing in the lead pack in both stages.

Robert Sowers, of Juneau, finished 21st in the prologue, did not finish due to a mechanical failure in the first stage and completed the second stage one minute behind the lead pack.

The race winds up today with the Mayor's Kincaid Loop Road Race. The final stage is 60 miles for men and 44 miles for women.
