I wonder what the commercial king crab fishermen did for a living during the many years they weren't allowed in the Juneau area. That closure was necessary because the crab were commercially over-fished and now they want history to repeat itself. And don't give me that story about locals without boats need the commercial fisherman to get crab. We can't afford to pay commercial prices.

Hey, fake whale-watching trips, fake fishing trips. It's all the same - just ripping off the tourists.

I just heard they did an autopsy on the trophy Fiberglas whale and guess what? There in its belly were the poor missing pink flamingos. At least that mystery is now solved.

Many thanks to the nice man in the red Toyota who pulled over on Egan on Sunday to help me with my flat tire. People like you make this a great town to live in. Thanks again.

Just a comment on the stoplight on Stephen Richards and Back Loop roads. Boy, after all these years of living here it's sure nice to have an area to get out on Back Loop. It's not the intersection that's dangerous, it's the irresponsible drivers that we've got in this community. I've ever seen anything like it in all my life.

It's a shame that grand old name Firestone is being dragged through the mud when they were bought out by the Japanese firm Bridgestone about 10 years ago. Buy American.

This is to the person who thought building a road to Juneau would bring guns, drugs and violence. There are already guns, drugs and violence in the downtown area, so building a road won't make any difference. All it will do is connect the capital to the rest of the state and bring more revenue into the city.

For the caller who said I always thought the nicest thing about Juneau was the lack of guns, drugs and violence; if you build a road they will come. Here's a news flash; it's already here, get a clue. Build us a road so we can escape the guns, drugs and violence. And use the tourist head tax for it. It's tourist-related: We'll get more of them.

I want to thank the couple who helped my daughter after her bicycle accident on the Brotherhood Trail Saturday night. She's fine, no broken bones. Thanks again.

The 1 percent sales tax, is great for the hospitals and schools but not for the skating rink.

I can't believe the caller who stated, ``Fishing is dead, go home and do something else.'' We are home, this is where we lived for a long time. Maybe they should go home, back down south and work for some other state government. They're a drain on society. If we didn't fish, log, mine and do other private industry business in this town, who would pay your large state salaries? It'd be nice to think about that. You're not revenue generating.

Looking for a way to raise money to pay for harbor upgrades? Seward officials are considering imposing a fee for passengers on fishing charters and wildlife tours. Juneau should do the same.
