Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


• A woman reported her black purse was stolen from inside a building near Glacier Highway at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday.

• A woman reported the theft of her brown wallet near Vintage Boulevard at 7:12 p.m. Tuesday. The wallet reportedly contained identification, a Social Security card, credit cards and $30 in cash.

Traffic accidents:

• The driver of a Dodge truck hit a black Landrover on South Franklin Street at 5:26 p.m. Tuesday. The Dodge sustained damage to the passenger bedside panel. The Landrover sustained damage to the cargo carrier.

• A collision between a 2003 Toyota Corolla and a 1989 Mazda was reported at Parkwood Drive and Mountainwood Circle at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday. Damage to both vehicles was unknown.


• At 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, a woman reported that two tires were slashed on a vehicle near Brothers Avenue sometime since midnight.

Found property:

• A brown wallet containing identification and various cards was turned over to police at 4:32 p.m. Tuesday. Police placed it in safekeeping, pending contact with the owner.

• At 6:22 a.m. Wednesday, a man advised an officer that he had found a backpack in Cope Park. Police placed it in safekeeping, pending contact with the owner.

• Two bicycles found near Julep Street were turned over to police at 6:47 a.m. Wednesday. One is a pink and purple woman's bicycle. The other was described as a man's dark green bicycle.

Animal complaints:

• Police received reports of a bear in the Mendenhall Mall Road area Tuesday at 10:56 p.m. and 10:58 p.m. At 10:36 a.m. Wednesday, a bear was reported getting into a secured trash container at Mallard Street the previous night. Police referred the caller to the Alaska Fish and Game Department.
