WASILLA - The Wasilla driver accused of severely injuring a flagger in a construction zone was arraigned Tuesday in Palmer.
Joshua Vialpando, 32, hid his face behind papers, blocking the view of a television camera in the gallery as he answered questions from District Court Judge William Estelle.
Vialpando is charged with felony counts of assault and leaving the scene of an accident,
Wasilla police say Vialpando admitted hitting 25-year-old Lacy McDaniel of Wasilla at about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 6 as she worked at the Parks Highway and Lucus Road.
She remains hospitalized.
Wasilla police used a tip called in to Alaska State Troopers to arrest the suspect Monday. He's held on $50,000 bail.
