ANCHORAGE - Alaska is getting a special prosecutor who will focus on traffic cases, including those involving driving under the influence and associated fatalities.
David Brower, an assistant district attorney, was appointed to the new position this week.
A state Department of Law spokesman said the position will provide training, education and assistance to prosecutors and law enforcement personnel while they work traffic-related cases.
Twenty-eight other states already have traffic safety resource prosecutors.
Brower has been with the law department since 1991. He's worked as a prosecutor in Nome and Juneau and was an assistant attorney general in the civil division.
