Juneau resident Mary A. Long died Aug. 5, 2008, in Seattle, after a brief illness with vascular disease. She was 88.
She was born Oct. 19, 1919, in North Carolina and was raised in Oklahoma. She began her married life in California and moved with her husband, Maurice Long, to Juneau in 1949 to "try it" for a year. Fifty-nine years later, she was still proud to call Juneau her home, her family said.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today, at the Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary. A full obituary with memorial service will follow.
