Talk focuses on hospice services

Representatives of Juneau Hospice will offer a talk on hospice services for people dying at 7:15 p.m. today at the Juneau Senior Center, 12th and Egan. The talk is open to all members of the Juneau public and is hosted by Mount Juneau AARP #865.

Prayer for Youth Day at shrine Saturday

A Pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. Therese scheduled Tuesday was cancelled. In its place, there will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the shrine Saturday for those neighbors, friends and family who have travelled to Italy for World Youth Day.

Nonprofit flea market

The Mendenhall Center will hold a nonprofit Flea Market from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Space at the mall is free to all nonprofit organizations. For more information and space registration, contact the malls office at 789-0090 between the hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Bartlett offers blood draws on Fridays

Bartlett Regional Hospital will provide therapeutic and autologous blood draws for Juneau and Southeast residents through the end of October. Autologous draws are taken when individuals scheduled for surgery want to donate their own blood in advance of surgery for their own use. The therapeutic blood draws are for patients with too many red blood cells.

The service is provided Fridays in the Juneau Medical Center building, 3268 Hospital Drive.

UAS offers nurse training this fall

The University of Alaska Southeast is offering a Certified Nurse Aide Training Class from Sept. 7 to Nov. 10. The class will meet all of the state's requirements for CNA training. It also meets the prerequisite requirements of Weber State University for further studies of nursing in Juneau. Call 465-8770 for more information.

Statewide Episcopal event in Fort Yukon

Episcopalians from many of Alaska's 48 Episcopal congregations will take part in Vigil 2000 in Fort Yukon, Sept. 1-3.

Registration for the event is $100, and includes materials, food and lodging. Forms are available through every congregation in the state and at http://home.gci. net/~episcopalak.
