Juneau police, fire officials, hospital officials, the Juneau Crime Line and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

28-year old Matt Dick was arrested for drunk driving about 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Mendenhall Glacier parking lot. He was additionally charged with driving without a license, marijuana possession, and two counts of reckless endangerment. He was lodged at state prison and his vehicle was impounded.

Thefts, lost/found items:

A 34-year old man reported about 9 a.m. Tuesday that he had lost a gun while hiking in the Berners Ba

y area.

Minor consuming:

A 15-year old girl was cited for minor consuming about 8 a.m. Tuesday after her father requested police assistance.

Vehicle accidents:

A 27-year old male was cited for negligent driving about 8 a.m. Tuesday after a vehicle accident involving an 87-year old man inn the Glacier Highway-Fritz Cove Road area. The older man was transported to Bartlett Regional hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

An 18-year old woman was cited for driving too close after an accident about noon Tuesday in the Egan Drive-Salmon Creek area. Her 89 Volkswagen sustained about $2,000 damage. A 61-year old man driving a 2000 Plymouth Neon sustained minor injuries, and the vehicle sustained about $1,500 damage.


A 37-year old man became upset and was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when officer attempted to serve him with court documents at his Mendenhall Valley residence. He was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering. He was transported to Lemon Creek Correctional Facility.

Animal encounters:

A bear was sighted behind the Elks Lodge on Franklin Street about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

A 26-year old woman reported about 11 p.m. Tuesday that a bear was eating her garbage in the Lemon Creek area. The bear was not aggressive.

At 4 a.m. today a bear was again reported eating garbage at the same address.

A bear was reported attempting to get into trash cans on 7th street about 6 a.m. today.
