Thanks to the ferry workers for getting everybody home safely from the fair. A ferry ride is an affordable and enjoyable part of our family trip and we really appreciated the hard work the ferry workers perform.

I agree with the caller who opposes the 1 percent tax for hospital expansion. Why should the public pay for the hospital to monopolize services already provided by independent entities like Juneau Urgent Care or the Juneau Family Birth Center? I dont believe a need has been demonstrated for a $15 million expansion, which will further centralize medical care and hence will probably cost the consumer a lot more in the long term.

I personally do plan to vote no on any additional taxing and also the stupid head tax. I think people pay plenty to go to stores, the tramway, the flightseeing tours, etc., to get their memory of Juneau.

Dear Parents: If anybody's kids come home from swimming tonight with a green Ocean Pacific sweatshirt that was stolen from my 10-year-old daughter at the pool, please have them return it to the pool. Its a sad day when you have to use the lockers in our nice, small town of Juneau.

To the person saying that a road to Juneau will create crime, violence and whatnot, how come Haines and Skagway arent looking like Seattle and New York? They happen to have a road. Get a life, Seattle will not get any closer just because we have a road out of here.

What's up with the shelves at the checkout stand at Foodland? Its all too confusing. I think they need to get rid of those things. You have to abandon your food on one side and your kid in your cart, by the time you get to the other side, someones in front of you. I think Ill shop out in the valley until they get rid of those shelves.

It's nice to see the Juneau police doing traffic stops. We need more of this. Many vehicles with year-round studded tires, bicyclists who ignore basic rules and beater cars on the road are a few good reasons to step up enforcement.

What kind of democratic process would limit who is on a ballot? I mean you have to declare before you go in that youre a Republican. What if you want one Republican and one somebody else? Thats very bad. You may not want every Republican. Its not a good idea.

We were going to start a fake bear-watching business, but the guy we hired started getting in the garbage. We were afraid the cops were going to shoot him so we had to stop doing it.

Six more police officers for our town? Why do we need more police officers? Is it because we have to fill the humongous police headquarters we built? Its outrageous. Cops on every street corner it sounds like were turning into a police state.
