Jessica Nolin, 22, Miss Alaska USA 2009, and Zlata Sushchik, 19, Miss Alaska Teen USA 2009, are conducting presentations to students in school on choices, goal setting, and positive imaging. They are both accomplished young women and are eager to share their experiences.
Nolin, of Palmer, has accomplishments in agriculture and farming through her work with the National Future Farmers of America and the International Agriculture Exchange Association, which provided her with an opportunity to intern at a Dairy Farm in New Zealand. She is currently working on her bachelor's degree in political science and engineering with a minor in aviation. She also is in the process of opening a business.
Suschik, of Anchorage, moved to the United States from Russia when she was 15 years old. While completing high school, she started working as a shelf cleaner at a local beauty salon and store. Zlata could not speak English when she moved to the United States. In the last four years, she learned how to speak fluent English, graduated high school a year early, entered college, and has worked her way up to a manager position and now supervises 17 employees. Suschik is a junior in college working to obtain a bachelor's degree in business management and administration.
