Auditions for 'Charlie Brown' this weekend
Auditions for the musical Youre a Good Man, Charlie Brown will be held this weekend.
There are six parts for three men and three women. Steve Tada will be the musical director and will be coordinating a stage band of about six musicians.
The show is scheduled to be staged at the Juneau-Douglas High School auditorium for two weekends in late November. Rehearsals will begin in early October.
Tryouts are open to adults and young adults, and cast members will be paid, said producer Tim Kelly. Ron Delay will be the director.
Kelly said 40 percent of the net receipts will be donated to the JDHS drama department. Auditions will be Saturday and Sunday in the JDHS band room. Call 586-8075 to schedule an audition spot.
Cast for locally-written drama sought
A locally-written play based on a true Juneau wilderness drama will be staged this winter by the Douglas Youth Drama Association. Youth in grades five through eight are invited to participate.
The Night The Forest Cried, was written by former Juneau-Douglas High School drama teacher Donna Breeden, and debuted at JDHS in 1992. Its based on the true story of two boys who went hiking after school on Mount Juneau. When weather closed in on them, only one returned.
J. Althea will direct the play. Casting is open to all interested who maintain focus and appropriate behavior standards. There is no formal audition. Rehearsals begin at 4 p.m. Sept. 17 at Douglas Community United Methodist Church and will be held Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons through the fall.
