Veggies, flora on display

The Juneau Community Garden will hold its 9th annual Harvest Fair and Farmers Market on Saturday. Public hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., during which locally-grown vegetables will be for sale. Everything from asters to zucchini thrives at the garden plots at a sunny clearing in the woods on Montana Creek Road in the Mendenhall Valley.

Gardeners will pluck the last weed and prepare their exhibits from 9 to 11 a.m. Judging begins at 11 a.m. Tours of the gardens start at noon. Children's events start at 1 p.m. and include bobbing for apples, visits with clowns, and face painting. Awards will be handed out at 4 p.m.

For details, call Linda Mosher, president, Juneau Community Garden Association, 586-2546.
