Juneau man charged with sexual assault
JUNEAU - A 48-year-old Juneau man is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on sexual assault charges after being indicted by a grand jury Friday.
John P. Watson was being held at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center in lieu of $50,000 bail. Charges include first- and second-degree sexual assault for acts allegedly committed against the same woman Monday.
Police Sgt. John Boltjes said the investigation started Tuesday after police responded to Bartlett Regional Hospital and met with the 46-year-old alleged victim. Information about the nature of the injuries was unavailable.
The first-degree sexual assault charge alleges that Watson had sexual relations with the woman without her consent. The second-degree sexual assault charge alleges that he knew the victim was incapacitated or unaware that a sexual act was being committed.
