Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


• At 12:54 p.m. Monday, a woman, 25, reported personal paperwork was stolen from her locked Ford Ranger near South Franklin Street. There was no damage to the vehicle.

• At 1:11 p.m. Monday, a man, 21, reported a silver and black beer tap was stolen from the back of his pickup sometime overnight near Second Street in Douglas. The tap is worth $35.

• At 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, a woman, 61, reported a break-in at a business near West Ninth Street. An unspecified amount of coins was taken from a vending machine.


• A man, 27, was arrested for fourth-degree assault at 8:33 a.m. Tuesday near Douglas Harbor. He was lodged at Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• A man, 41, reported at 1:30 p.m. Monday that the passenger side mirror on his red 2001 Jeep Wrangler was broken sometime between 10 p.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. Monday near Calhoun and Distin avenues. A damage estimate was not available.

• At 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, a woman, 68, reported someone threw a rock through the window of her residence near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek.

Vehicle accident:

• A man, 47, reported at 1:32 p.m. Monday that his blue 2000 Chevrolet truck had been scratched somewhere in the Juneau area. The damage was estimated at $1,500.

• A woman, 42, reported at 2:30 p.m. Monday that an unknown vehicle struck her unoccupied 2002 Ford Escape, causing damage to the rear bumper and wheel on the passenger side near Seward Street. No damage estimate was available.

• A man, 22, reported at 5:13 p.m. Monday that his white 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier was hit and run while parked near Glacier Highway. The vehicle sustained $3,000 to $4,000 in damage.

• At 11:09 a.m. Tuesday, a man, 24, lost control of a 1995 Toyota Tercel, causing a single-vehicle accident near Glacier Highway and Western Auto.

Animal encounters:

• At 11:02 p.m. Monday, a woman, 54, reported a large bear in a tree near Turn Street.

• At 3:24 a.m. Tuesday, a woman, 44, reported a big bear walking around near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek.

• At 8:48 a.m. Tuesday, a woman, 56, reported a bear wandering around near James Boulevard.


• A woman, 21, was cited for disturbing the peace at 9:57 p.m. Monday near Delta Drive.

Calls related to alcohol: 1.

Crime Line

Police have responded twice in the last month to early morning burglary alarms at Juneau Drug, 202 Front St. downtown.

On both July 19 and Aug. 7, the business was found to have been forcibly entered and prescription drugs were reported stolen. The cases remain under investigation.
