• Southeast Road Runners - Nifty Fifty Relay: Meet at 8:30 a.m. at Cowee Creek, about 1 mile before Echo Cove boat ramp, for a 9 a.m. race start. The race is 50 kilometers (31 miles) over three legs, finishing near Skaters Cabin. This is a two- or three-person relay or an endurance race for one person. • Juneau Freewheelers cycling club - Dredge Lake mountain bike race: Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Dredge Lake Trails in the Mendenhall Valley for a 10 a.m. race start. Course is TBA. Info: Glacier Cycles, 789-7050.

• Juneau-Douglas High School volleyball - The Crimson Bears host a Jamboree, featuring most of the Class 4A and Class 3A varsity, junior varsity and C teams from the Southeast Conference. Times and matchups are TBA at the JDHS main and auxiliary gyms.



• Mudball Classic softball transportation - Softball teams and their fans planning to attend the Mudball Classic softball tournament Sept. 2-5 in Sitka should know there will be an Allen Marine charter from Juneau to Sitka that weekend. The boat will leave Juneau at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, and return to Juneau Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $55 per person round trip. Payment is due by Aug. 24. Info: Kelly, 747-4700.

• Juneau Youth Hockey registration - Registration is underway for hockey players ages 4-18. Sign up from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Nugget Mall, from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, at Treadwell Arena on Aug. 20, or online at ice at "Forms". • Juneau Parks and Recreation youth indoor soccer registration - Registration for this fall's season takes place from Aug. 13 to Sept. 3 via fax, mail or drop-off. Forms will be available starting Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the Parks and Rec office, Zach Gordon Youth Center at Volunteer coaches and paid referees are needed, training is available. • Glacier Swim Club swimming clinic - Glacier Swim Club is offering a swimming clinic for children ages 6-11. The clinic takes place from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Aug. 15, 17 and 19 at the Augustus Brown Swimming Pool. Registration is $25 and forms are available at the pool. • Juneau-Douglas High School cross-country running practice - Practice starts at 3 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, with Aug. 1 being the first day. Practices on Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be at Juneau-Douglas High School, while Tuesday and Thursday practices will be on various trails around town. Please contact coaches Guy Thibodeau and Merry Ellefson for practice sites on Tuesdays and Thursdays. • Juneau-Douglas High School swimming and diving practice - There will be a mandatory meeting for all JDHS students interesting in joining the swimming and diving team at 2:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8. All students should meet at the front door of JDHS at 2:15 p.m. Swim practice will be at 3 p.m., while diving practice will be at 6:30 p.m. Swimmers should bring dryland, swim workout clothes and completed physical screening form. • Juneau-Douglas High School tennis practice - The Crimson Bears practice from 10:30 a.m. to noon Mondays through Fridays on Aug. 1-23 and at 3-4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Mendenhall Valley location of JRC/The Alaska Club. The second practice time will be offered first to those students who work during the day. All incoming JDHS 9th-12th grade boys and girls are invited. Experienced and new players are welcome. • Treadwell Arena schedule - The Treadwell Arena will be opening up with Ice on Sept. 6. On Aug. 20 from noon to 4 p.m., people can sign up for hockey leagues, classes, camps and skating lessons for the fall season. • Juneau Adult Recreation Hockey - The Juneau Adult Hockey Association is currently accepting registrations through Aug. 26 of its fall season starting in September and running through mid-December. The JAHA offers leagues based on experience ranging from co-ed introductory to advanced and women's leagues. All play is non-contract and open to players 18-and-up regardless of experience. • Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. • Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older.
