Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Sound off on the important issues at

Domestic violence:

• Police arrested a 48-year-old man on a charge of domestic-violence assault at 12:28 a.m. Wednesday in the downtown area. Police lodged him at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• A damaged mailbox was reported at 7:46 a.m. Wednesday in the 3000 block of Wood Duck Avenue.


• A 21-year-old woman was cited for concealment of merchandise at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday in the 8100 block of Glacier Highway.


• An amplifier valued at $100 and a pair of Oakley sunglasses valued at $250 were reported stolen at 1:37 p.m. Tuesday from an unlocked vehicle in the 700 block of South Franklin.

• A portable DVD player valued at $150 was reported stolen at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 9300 block of Glacier Highway.

Traffic stop:

• A 27-year-old man was cited for driving without a license at 8:11 a.m. Wednesday in the 9400 block of Glacier Highway. The vehicle he was driving was impounded.

Vehicle accidents:

• A 56-year-old man was cited at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday for careless driving after the 2001 Lincoln he was driving struck a 1999 Saturn driven by a 42-year-old woman.

Hit and run:

• A 71-year-old woman reported at 12:23 p.m. Tuesday that her 2004 Subaru was struck by an unknown vehicle in the 1800 block of Shell Simmons Drive.

Animal encounters:

• A bear was reported roaming around the 200 block of Behrends Avenue at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday. A bear was reported eating garbage in the 800 block or B Street at 12:33 a.m. Wednesday. A bear was reported at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Dixon Street.
