The chairman of Juneau's SAFE Committee will discuss the potential placement of and funding for the proposed North Douglas Causeway at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Silverbow Inn.
"My focus is just going to be explaining the specific project," said Rick Shattuck, chairman of the Safe, Affordable, Future, Efficient Committee. "Also who our group is, how we're going to fund it. I adjust my talk on the audience, what they want to know."
The Juneau Economic Development Committee's Knowledge Industry Network and the SAFE Committee are hosting the event.
Scott Ciambor, KIN coordinator, said it's part of the monthly networking events the group holds for local professionals to meet and hear a speaker or learn a skill that could be useful in the community.
"This happens to be kind of a hot topic," he said. "It looks like the North Douglas Causeway is going to be on the ballot in October. People need to understand what the pros and the cons of the project are and to learn what other people think about it in the community."
KIN has more information on discussions the city finance committee had regarding the project on its website: www.jedc.org/kin.shtml.
Shattuck said he hopes people will attend if they're interested in learning more about the project and how it will be funded.
A social hour will follow the meeting.
