The importing thing: Get out the vote

Posted: Sunday, August 18, 2002

Get out the vote. How do we get more people to vote? How do we get more Natives to vote? How do we get more young people to vote? How do we get more low-income people to vote? How do we get more "disenfranchised" people to vote?

Get out the vote. I worry about who the next governor of Alaska will be, curious about how the state will be run in the future.

Get out the vote. I worry about Native politics. I worry about the many senseless, foolish actions inside our system.

Get out the vote. Alaska is my home. Juneau is my home. I love it here. I have pride for my future in this state.

Get out the vote. I worry about state politics, and Juneau politics. I worry about the budget deficit and the education, and the need for cultural edification.

Who cares much for playing political games, looking stupid, disenfranchisement, resentment, egos, bullying, pitying, silliness? Get out the vote.

Get out the vote. Keep reading the paper. Keep up the study. Students at Ya Koos, Zach Gordon, CHOICE, friends at ANB Hall, Tlingit and Haida, friends at UAS, PETAS program, friends at St. Vincent's, friends at SAGA, YABAH, friends; get out the vote.

Get out the vote in the Aug. 29 primary and again in the general election. If you're not already registered, register today. Get out the vote.
