Perservance to hold final auditions for 'King Island Christmas'

JUNEAU - Perseverance Theatre will hold its final round of auditions for "King Island Christmas" from noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, in Douglas.

The theater is casting principal roles and chorus members. People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

The first rehearsal will take place on Oct. 25. Performances will be held Dec. 1-4 at the Juneau-Douglas High School auditorium.

Boardwalk Boogie announces dates, ferry details

JUNEAU -The seventh annual Boardwalk Boogie will be held Friday-Sunday, Sept. 16-18, in Pelican, the boardalk town of 80, 70 miles west of Juneau in Lisianski Strait.

A ferry will leave at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, from Don Statter Harbor in Auke Bay and arrive in Pelican at 7:30 p.m. A state ferry will leave Pelican at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, and arrived in Juneau at 9:30 p.m.

Everyone is responsible for buying their own ferry ticket. The Boogie has reserved 100 seats, so when you buy your ticket, tell them you are buying one of the festival's reserved seats.

As of now, the bands are Ray-Jen Cajun, The Bobb Family Band, Five Buck Fiddle (minus Buck) and some incarnation of Panhandle Crabgrass Revival Band. Other events include a welcome party, a community fish feed, a craft fair, the infamous Filthy Song Contest and more.

Marine Park festival to be held Sept. 24

JUNEAU - Organizers of the second annual Marine Park street fair are looking for people interested in vending or participating at the autumn festival, noon-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

Last year's party drew an assortment of merchants (art, beads, clothes, knickknacks and miscellaneous merchandise), food vendors and musicians. It's intended to celebrate the end of the tourist season.

This year's festival will include four tents with tables around the plaza, and possibly some kiosk-type booths. The stage, under the shelter, could be used for music or a puppet show if anyone is interested.

Space will cost $40 for a table, booth or parking area (for large food vendors).

Northern Light Junior Theatre to audition for 'Seussical, the Musical'

JUNEAU - Northern Lights Junior Theatre has announced auditions for "Seussical, the Musical," to be directed by Janice Hurley and J. Althea on Jan. 20-21, 2006, at the Juneau-Douglas High School auditorium.

Students in grades three and up, and adults, are welcome to attend. The locations will be announced soon.

To request an audition or for more information, write to nljtheatre@gmail.com. Include the name of the person who will be auditioning, the name of a parent or guardian, the student's grade and a phone number and postal address. All communications regarding auditions will be conducted by e-mail.

Those attending auditions will be assigned to an orientation meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8 or Friday, Sept. 9. Student cast members must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Following orientations, group auditions will be held until 8:30 p.m.

Individual 10-minute audition appointments will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10. Actors should have a 30-second song, a 60-second reading and a list of previous theater experience.

Call-backs will be held starting at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11.

Rehearsals will begin Sept. 15.
