JUNEAU - Police are looking for the driver of a white sports car that struck a 15-year-old boy riding a scooter Saturday night.

The boy was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital following the accident. He sustained minor scrapes and bruises to his ankle, knee and back and was released Saturday night, according to hospital spokeswoman Marijo Toner.

Police said the boy was riding his scooter around 9:50 p.m. Saturday near Glacier Highway and Del Rae Street when a white, mid-1990s, two-door sports car with a spoiler struck the scooter. A 14-year-old boy witnessed the accident and told police the vehicle continued outbound on Glacier Highway without stopping, according to a police press release.

When police arrived on the scene, they were unable to locate the vehicle, they said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 586-0600.
