Civil Air Patrol graduates 30 youth

JUNEAU - A class of 30 youth cadets in the Civil Air Patrol in wrapped up its week-long 2009 Alaska Wing Summer Encampment with a graduation ceremony Tuesday at the Mendenhall Mall.

The cadets came from around the state to participate in the activity, which is similar to a military boot camp. Graduation is a prerequisite for advancement in the Civil Air Patrol.

The Civil Air Patrol is a civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force tasked with providing emergency services, aerospace education and youth cadet programs.
