Stray BB hits school bus in Anchorage

Posted: Wednesday, August 19, 2009

ANCHORAGE - A woman school bus attendant was treated for a minor injury after a BB pellet broke a bus window in Anchorage.

Police said the bus apparently was hit accidentally Monday as it passed a yard where three teens were shooting at a target. The driver was practicing a route for Wednesday's start of school.

Lt. Dave Parker said the boys were supervised by an adult. They cooperated with police and said they didn't realize one of the BBs had gone astray.

The Anchorage Daily News reported it is a misdemeanor to shoot any kind of gun in the city limits except at designated places, like shooting ranges.

Police are forwarding the information to the McLaughlin Youth Center to see if the boys should be charged.
