ANCHORAGE - Friends of a man found dead in the back seat of a car in downtown Anchorage say he was a transient named Bart they knew from the Brother Francis Shelter.
Police are investigating the death of the 49-year-old man whose body was found Sunday. Lt. Dave Parker said there was no sign of a crime.
The Anchorage Daily News reported it was the 12th death since the spring involving men and women who lived on the city's streets, woods or parks.
One of the last people to see Bart alive said he ran into him Saturday at a liquor store where he bought a bottle of vodka and a 12-pack of beer.
