A place the old-timers dont recognize anymore

Posted: Sunday, August 20, 2000

The times they are a changing! How many of you old-timers ever thought you would see "No Trespass" signs on Admiralty and Chichagof islands? And how many of you thought you would see miles of clear-cut scars on these same islands, and also within driving distance of Juneau? And now another abomination: You'll have to get permission to visit Kenai Fjords National Park because it is no longer a national park owned by all, but now owned by the Port Graham Corporation. And when the University of Alaska gets through blowing up a few glaciers in the Glacier Bay National Park exercising their mineral rights, and we hit one million tourists and 140,000 helicopter flights, you might as well just chuck in your last few chips and move into the home!
