The Juneau Boys and Girls Club (BGC) would like to extend great appreciation to the Fred Meyer Foundation/Juneau Advisory Committee for their donation of $300 to sponsor the Club's Summer Open Gym. With the contributed funds, the club was able to purchase sports equipment, program supplies such as Gatorade and water, as well as attendance incentives such as granola bars and fruit snacks.
From June 16 to Aug. 15, the Boys and Girls Club and the Juneau School District served 297 youth with positive, healthy and supervised sports activities. Without the support of the local community, the Boys and Girls Club of Juneau would not be able to provide such a positive place for kids and teens.
The Boys and Girls Club of Juneau is a nonprofit youth organization that serves all young people between the ages of 8 and 18 with a program based facility that includes a games room with recreation equipment and a PowerUP computer learning center with Internet access.
The Juneau BGC is located at 8825 Mallard St., behind the Nugget Mall. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the school year and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the summer.
