U.S. reps stand for America, not just constituents

I was living in Alaska when Sen. Ted Stevens was a neophyte in Washington, D.C. I now live in New Mexico, a state with a population not much larger than Alaska's.

Sound off on the important issues at

Having just read the editorial comment from a Fairbanks person regarding Stevens, I frankly did not know, and still don't, that the main job of a United State senator is to "bring home the bacon."

Perhaps I am just naive, but I thought senators should be smart enough to realize that the common good of the entire United States of America is in their hands.
