Troopers warn about phone scam

JUNEAU - Alaska State Troopers are warning residents about a phone scam.

Troopers in Juneau said a caller told an elderly woman in the village of Angoon that she had won some money, and all she needed to do was send money to a Jamaican address in order to receive her prize.

The woman ended up sending more than $2,000 before the family found out and put a stop to it.

The family contacted troopers who then got in touch with the FBI, which confirmed it was a scam.
