Posted: Friday, August 20, 2010

JUNEAU - Mendenhall Glacier Summer Forest Explorer Programs continue at 11 a.m. this Saturday and weekly through Sept. 25. Community members are invited to take advantage of this free opportunity to explore nature with Forest Service staff.

The program is designed for children (4-6 years old) and their parents and/or caregivers, however everyone is welcome. This week's activity is "Beautiful, but Bad." Participants will become "Invasive Weed Rangers" by indentifying the various native and non-native plants of the Mendenhall area.

Participants should meet at the Pavilion and dress for the weather.

For more information, contact the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center at 789-0097.
