...for your help.
Juneau Invasive Plant Action would like to thank the many volunteers who attended our garlic mustard weed-pulling event downtown on Saturday, Aug. 10. The volunteers cheerfully spent hours out of their weekend pulling weeds in the pouring rain. Our efforts were very successful and we pulled over 240 pounds of the plant. This represents an important first step in containment and eradication of this invasive weed, which has caused major habitat degradation in the Lower 48, but has only appeared in this one site in Alaska. Thanks to Alaskan and Proud Market, Breeze-In, Fiddlehead, Silverbow and McDonald's for providing food and beverages, and to Waste Management Incorporated for incinerating the weeds we collected.
