Nico Saldivar rushed for 219 yards and four touchdowns as the Juneau-Douglas High School junior varsity football team topped Lathrop 50-0 Saturday at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park.
Saldivar busted a 59-yard run for a TD as the Crimson Bears' J.V. improved to 2-0 this season.
"He has good vision and really good agility," JDHS coach Charles Fairless said. "He has really good moves."
Phil Moser added 37 yards on the ground along with a touchdown in the win.
Quarterback Alex Fagerstrom was named offensive player of the game by rushing for 30 yards with two touchdowns. He also amassed 73 passing yards, including a 20-yard TD pass to Jesse West.
Colin Flynn had 40 yards receiving, 18 yards rushing and was named special teams player of the game.
Tauvo Maake had 21 yards and kicked a pair of extra points in the win.
Defensively, Juneau-Douglas pitched a shutout.
"The defensive coordinator Rory Niere and the defense did just a phenomenal job," Fairless said. "The defense did great and held them to zero. They allowed only four first downs in the entire second half."
Nick Marthaller had an interception while Fairless said Matt Lehrbach played well on the defensive line.
Donovan Wilson was named defensive player of the game.
"They did awesome," Fairless said of his defense. "They really gave us good field position. We had excellent defense and they gave us the ball in their territory many, many times, which helped us capitalize."
Juneau-Douglas also forced four turnovers in the win.
The Crimson Bears' J.V. will accompany the varsity to North Pole for a game againat the Patriots next Saturday.
