Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

Jesse Sooter, 17, was arrested for drunken driving on Long Run Drive about 3:30 a.m. today. He was released to his mother.

Assaults:

A 24-year-old man was arrested about 4 a.m. today at a location on Industrial Boulevard for assault. Alcohol was involved. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Thefts:

Two 17-year-old girls were placed under citizens arrest for shoplifting about 5:30 p.m. Monday at Fred Meyer. They were released at the scene and provided transportation home.

Two women, 18 and 22, reported about 9 p.m. that $500 cash and two rings, valued at $150, had been stolen from an unlocked locker at Augustus Brown Swimming Pool.

A 51-year-old man reported about 1 p.m. Monday that a rifle had been stolen from his boat in the Douglas harbor.

A 30-year-old woman reported about 4 p.m. Monday that a gold nugget valued at $1,600 had been stolen from a South Franklin Street store.

Found property:

A 39-year-old woman reported about 10 a.m. Monday finding a toddler-size boys bicycle near Sandy Beach.

A 50-year-old man brought a 35 mm camera into Juneau police about noon Monday. He found the camera outside the Juneau road system. The camera is at JPD for safekeeping.

Trespassing:

A 25-year-old woman reported about 1 p.m. Monday that someone had broken the door and attempted to enter her boat in the North Douglas area.

Animal encounters:

li> Police received a complaint about 11:30 a.m. Monday of a bear in garbage in the 3100 area of North Douglas Highway.

Police received a bear complaint about 6:30 p.m. Monday from a resident on Sharon Street.

Police received a report about 4:30 p.m. Monday of a glacier bear sighted in the vicinity of Nowell Avenue and Fairbanks Street.

A man called about 4:30 p.m. Monday to report a bear at his house in the 3100 area of North Douglas three times Monday attempting to get into empty trash cans.

A Vanderbilt Hill area resident reported to police about 8 p.m. Monday that a bear was fishing in the creek near his neighborhood.

Police received a report about 9 p.m. Monday that a bear was walking up Lawson Creek Road.

Police received a call about midnight this morning that a bear was active in the Lemon Creek area. The caller was advised to contact Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Police received a call about 1 a.m. today that a bear had knocked over trash cans and was eating garbage in front of a South Franklin Street restaurant. Police assisted the bear in returning to the forest.

A man reported about 5 a.m. today that a bear had gotten into the garbage at his home on Gee Street. A few minutes later another caller reported a bear was passing through the area.

A man reported about 6 a.m. today that a bear had taken a bag of garbage from his Kennedy Street home.

A man called about 6 a.m. to report a bear in the enclosed Dumpster area of a Salmon Creek area outdoor eatery.

A caller reported a bear about 6:30 a.m. today in the area of Sharon Street.

Other:

A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew airlifted a 49-year-old Canadian woman with a fish hook in her eye from Haines to Juneau about 1:30 a.m. today. A Haines doctor called the Coast Guard for assistance as weather precluded commercial aircraft from flying.
