Students from Nishiokoppe Middle School in Japan visited Juneau recently. On Aug. 12 they met some pen pals from Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School at the Mount Roberts Tramway. As part of an ongoing exchange between the schools, teachers from Juneau periodically teach in the Nishiokoppe schools. While here, the Japanese students stayed one night at dormitories at the University of Alaska Southeast and the other nights with host families. They visited Auke Bay and the Mendenhall Glacier, ate at McDonald's and a salmon bake, and shopped downtown.
