Betty Carlson and David Nelson, both of Douglas, were married on July 1 in a ceremony on an Allen Marine catamaran.
The bride is the daughter of Al and Sue Carlson of Juneau. She is a graduate of the University of Montana and the University of Alaska Southeast. She is currently employed as a teacher for Auke Bay Elementary School.
The groom is the son of Kenneth and Joyce Nelson of Kirkland, Wash. He is a graduate of Western Washington University in Bellingham and is currently employed by Alaska Ship Chandlers.
The maid of honor was Rachel Manley, the bride's best friend since kindergarten. The bridesmaids were Michelle and Tina Carlson, the bride's sisters.
The best man was Jens Kotzurek. Ushers were Clint Carlson, the bride's brother, and Joe Nelson, the groom's brother.
The couple honeymooned in Europe and will make their home in Juneau.
