Non-response is non-issue

Posted: Thursday, August 22, 2002

As briefly as possible, I feel I need to clarify and respond to yesterday's Empire article about the recent burglary and vandalism problems here at the Shrine of St. Therese.

In each of our communications with JPD we clearly communicated to them our understanding that as we had no hard suspects or evidence pointing to any party or individual, it was reasonable that an officer coming out to the Shrine after the fact would be redundant. They certainly were never directly asked, and certainly never "refused" to come to the Shrine.

In my opinion and to my knowledge, JPD's response, or lack of, is a non-issue relative to these unfortunate crimes. My personal impression of JPD has always been from a perspective of gratitude and pride. It certainly remains so today.
