Council offering grants for artists

Grant money is available for Juneau artists, musicians, writers and arts organizations through the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council. The arts council is accepting applications now through Oct. 5 for three different grant programs.

Grant money is available for materials, tools, lessons, workshops and staging productions. In past years, grant awards have ranged from $300 to about $750, said JAHC director Sybil Davis.

"They're also available for local organizations, and those (amounts) are a little larger," she said. "We've awarded a total of $10,000 in past years, but each individual grant is not huge because we need to spread (the money) around."

For more information and applications contact The Juneau Arts and Humanities Council at 206 N. Franklin Street or call 586-2787.
