Movies

"Planet of the Apes," (PG-13) ends tonight, last shows at 6:30 and 9 p.m. at Glacier Cinemas.

"Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," (R) starts Friday and shows nightly at 7:10 and 9:30 at Glacier Cinemas, with matinees at 2:10 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

"Osmosis Jones," (PG) ends tonight, last shows at 7 and 9 at the 20th Century Twin.

"The Others," (PG-13) starts Friday and shows nightly at 7:10 and 9:20 at the 20th Century Twin, with matinees at 2:10 and 4:20 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

"The Princess Diaries," (G) shows tonight at 6:40 and 9:10 at Glacier Cinemas, switching to 6:30 and 9 nightly beginning Friday, with matinees at 1:30 and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Concerts

CrossSound Concert, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Northern Light United Church. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors.

Workshops

Painting workshop with Chinese artist and instructor Feng Jialiang, 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jundau-Douglas High School art room, $40, call 586-2787 to register, for artists of all levels.

Auditions/registration

Juneau Jazz Juniors, piano ensemble playing light jazz, boogie-woogie, ragtime and light rock, is interviewing for new members. Students in grades 5 through 8 with at least two years of piano lessons should call J. Althea at 586-4933 for an interview.

Fall dance registration with the Janice D. Holst School of Dance for ballet, tap, jazz and creative dance, for students age 4 through adult, will be 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Nugget Mall. For more information call 586-1462.

"Summer Paintings - A Celebration," an exhibit of paintings by Devita Stipek Writer, opening reception 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at Portfolio Arts Gallery, through Sept. 7.
