The Juneau Co-op Nursery School is now taking applications for the Fall 2002 semester for children who will be between the ages of 20 months and three years by Sept. 15, 2002. JCNS is a parent-run nursery school program located in the basement of the Northern Lights United Church at 400 11th Street in Juneau. In addition to the Nursery room, we have access to a fenced outdoor playground, an indoor climbing room, and a large open space indoors for games and other activities. We are not affiliated with the church and do not teach a religious program.
The nursery school program operates from 9:30 a.m to noon, each weekday morning from early September through late May. There are six guaranteed slots available each morning as well as one slot each day for a substitute. Tuition is $40 a semester for a guaranteed slot and $20 a semester for a substitute slot. Children may be registered for more than one day per week provided space is available. Because the needs of your individual child may vary over the course of the year, parents should not consider the nursery school to be dependable child care. There may be times when your child will not want to be left, or times when the nursery program needs additional help.
Each class is staffed by two parent volunteers. Work days rotate, and each family will be required to work on average, once every three weeks. In addition to providing classroom supervision, each family is assigned a volunteer job and required to participate in one general clean-up per year.
For further information, or to request a registration packet, please contact Jeanine Smith at 586-9421 or Mila Cosgrove at 463-3701. The JCNS Fall Orientation Meeting will be held on Aug. 29 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Northern Lights Church. Please do not bring children to this meeting. If you need childcare, contact Jeanine Smith or Mila Cosgrove at the numbers listed above.
