I get to play all day at my job, literally. I work at Juneau's Imagination Station, the funnest store in town, and I love my job.
I love to see the look on kid's faces when they first walk into the store and look around. Usually their eyes open wide in amazement, and then they don t know what to check out first - could be dolls, could be spy gear, could be art stuff, or that new game they look at every time they come in.
It's also great to see adults get just as excited as the kids. Creativity and imagination are contagious, especially when you're around children who seem to just naturally exude them. It's nice to see adults make the connection that kids today still love all those classic, creative toys that were around when they were young. You remember, the ones that didn't need batteries or any fancy new gadgets. All you needed was some imagination and a few good friends and you could have hours and hours of carefree play.
My coworkers also make my job fun. We believe in testing all the new toys we get in, just so we know they're fun and enjoyable enough for kids to play with, and they always are.
The owners do a fabulous job of finding the highest quality innovative and educational toys on the market, the ones you won't see at just any toystore. And it shows when we get compliments on what a unique store it is from both locals and tourists.
My job is not the typical 9-5 business kind. I get to interact with many different kinds of people in our community, namely the younger, more fun crowd, and that's why I love it.
